Fig 17 is a sectional view along the line XVII-XVII of Fig 15. Fig 18 is a sectional view along the line XVII-XVIII of Fig. 15.
The mechanism shown in Figs, 1 to 5 comprises a housing 1 of U-shaped cross section, open at the top, intended to be fixed to the upper cross of an opening in a room, for example to the lintel of a room. window opening. Inside the housing is provided an elevator shaft 2 which extends over the entire length of the housing, and the ends of which are rotatably mounted in bearings 3 and 4 integral with this housing.
The shaft 2 is itself rigidly secured to two winding pulleys 5, the number of which can be increased for jealousies of more width it..portante, Au :: winding pulleys 5 is fixed by one end to a flexible traction member 6, for example, a cord, a strap, a small diameter wire rope, or a steel tape. The cord or other traction means passes through an opening 7 made in the bottom of the casing, descends on a return pulley 8 fixed below the casing, and passes through a hole 9 drilled in the axis of each of the 10 superimposed slats.
The lower end of the cord is attached to the first blade (not shown) at the bottom of the louver. The use of very thin steel tapes is particularly advantageous in that the thickness of the superimposed turns of the tape is very low. The different blades of the blind rest between two ribbons 11 and 12 on transverse strips 13, sewn or otherwise fixed to the ribbons.
The cords or ribbons 6 which cross them preventing them from moving lonitdinally
The carrier strips 11 and 12 of the blades pass through the bottom of the housing 1 and the two strips facing each pair are fixed to a stirrup 14 The two stirrups 14 of the example shown are respectively secured to tubular bushings 15, 16 and 16, 17 which are rotatably mounted on the shaft 2. The two longitudinal edges of the brackets 14 are folded in the manner shown in FIG. 3. At the place of the elbow, the tape 11 or 12 passes through a slit
18 It is then folded over a rod 19 and passes again through the slot 18 As a result, a tensile force exerted downward on the tape automatically wedges it inside the elbow at the edge of the caliper .
Oscillating movement of the stirrups 14 in one direction or the other raises one of the bands, for example the ribbon 11 while the opposite ribbon 12 descends. In this way the yarns 10 can be tilted in both directions, as shown in dotted lines in FIG. 3. They can also be placed almost vertically.

tically to spit out the entry of light.
The elevator shaft is actuated by a mechanism housed in a box 20 in two parts, which the box 1 carries at one of its ends. In this box 20, the extension of the shaft 2 carries a bevel pinion 21 coupled to the shaft 2 by a square end piece 22.
Pinion 21 meshes with another bevel pinion 23 The latter comprises a hub 24 capable of rotating in a bearing 25 integral with the box. On the hub 24 is fixed by a pin 26 a drive plate 27. In the hub 24 is engaged a pin 23 whose lower end protrudes and serves to guide a drive plate 29,
rotatable freely on axis 28 and exiting through the bottom of box 20. The part of the drive plate bore below axis 28 has a square cross section at 30, and serves to the coupling with the crank rod intended to rotate the elevator shaft 2, Around the bearing 25 is wound a helical spring 31. The drive plate 27 has a peripheral edge in the form of an arc centered on its axis 32,
and which extends outside the spring 31 over a little less than half of the perimeter of the plate. The drive plate 29 also has a peripheral rim, in an arc of a circle 33 which extends approximately over half of the periphery of the plate, and which is engaged in the gap between the two ends of the rim 32 of the plate 27. L end 34 of coil spring 31 is applied against end 35 of flange 33 of plate 29.
The other end 36 of the spring is bent backwards, and the elbow of the spring rests against the end 37 of the flange 32 of the plate 27, while the free end of the elbow cooperates.

When it is desired to raise the louver, the crank coupled to the drive plate 29 is rotated, for example in the direction of the arrow a in FIG. 5. The plate 29 acts through the end 33 * of the flange 33 on the driven plate 27 32 and rotates it in the same direction. The end 37 of the flange 32 then acts on the bend of the end 36 of the spring and exerts on this spring a pressure in the direction of the expansion of the turns of the spring.
The latter can therefore turn in its turn with the two plates 27 and 29 around the fixed bearing 25 The pin 26 transmits the rotational movement of the plate 27 to the bevel pinion 23 (therefore it turns the pinion 21 and consequently the elevator shaft 2 .

Pulling on the cord 43 causes it to rotate in one direction or in the opposite direction. the other, the helical wheel 4c, the bushes 15, 16, 17 which are integral with it, as well as the calipers 14 l1 results in that one of the bands 11, 12 carrying the blades 10 is lifted, while the other is lowered,
so that the blades are tilted in the corresponding direction.
The worm gear and helical wheel 40, 41 is not reversible, so that the weight of the calipers 14 cannot move them away from the position given to them.
In order to limit the raising and lowering strokes of the blind, one of the ends of the lifting shaft 2 has a thread 44 on which is engaged a sliding nut 45 locked in rotation. The axial movement of the nut 45 is limited in one direction by the bearing 3 and in the other direction by an adjustable stop 46.
This stop is adjusted as a function of the height of the louver, or as a function of the number of blades, so that axially displaced by the rotation of the shaft 2 hits one of the two stops 3 or

Link understood, the cords or tapes 6 can wind on the pulleys 5 in both directions of rotation, but the friction kidney only acts in one direction of rotation under the action of the weight. It is therefore necessary that the raising and lowering movements take place in the correct direction, and that the cords or bands 6 exert on the pulleys 6 and the shaft 2 a torque such that the driven plate 27 tends @ turn in the direction of the arrow b.
The gearbox 20 is articulated to the housing 1 by means of a yoke 47 around the axis of the bevel gear 21, so that the lever linkage, which must be engaged in the square recess 30 of the plate 29, can be given a suitable orientation by pivoting the box 20, with the bevel gear 23 and the plates 27 and 29, around one of the gear 21 as shown in Figs 6 and 7.

The drive plate 29 coming out of the box 20 is still connected by a square end shaft 50 and by a universal joint 51 to the rod 52 which can be oriented outwards, and joined by a folding crank like in the example. shown in fig 6.
Fig. 8 shows a sliding window combined with a jalousie mounted on the interior side of the window. 58 designates the sliding window. 59 is the box containing the pulleys of the cables or tapes carrying the sliding slit. The slats 10 of the louver are suspended from the rim of the box 59. the orientable rod 52, joined by a folding crank 54, 55, is again read by a universal joint 51 using the mechanism contained in it. the gearbox 20.
The mechanism shown in figs. 9 to 14 also comprises a housing 1 of U-shaped cross section and open at the top, which is intended to be fixed to the upper cross member of a beacon opening, for example inside a window. The elevator shaft 2 is rotatably mounted in bearings 3 and 4 integral with the housing, and carries two or more winding pulleys 5. To each pulley 5 is fixed one end of a cord or tape 6, preferably of a thin steel tape.
This cord or ribbon passes through an opening 60 made in the bottom of the housing 1 descends onto a deflection pulley 8 integral with the bottom of the housing, and passes through a hole 61 provided in the axis of each of the superimposed blades 10, to be fixed by its inferior interlude to the blade prefers at the bottom of the jealousy.
The different 12 ':': the jealousy are arranged between two ribbons 11 and 12, and rest on transverse bands! 3 sewn or attached to another: seam to the ribbons. Their longitudinal yoke is prevented by the cords or tapes 5 The carrier tapes 11 and 12 are suspended by their upper ends L from the chains 62 passing through slots 63 made in the bottom of the housing 1 and whose upper ends are hooked to pins. 64 Hanging tie pins 64 strings of two ribbons cor-
responders 11 and 12 are attached to the ends of two rockers 65 and 66 attached to :: bushings 67 and 68 These bushings can rotate on the shaft 2, and they are rigidly coupled to each other by pins 64 arranged symmetrically with respect to the axis of the elevator shaft. A pivoting movement of the bushes 67 and 63 and a corresponding oscillating movement of the rockers 65 and 66, for example, raises the chains which are fixed to the carrier tape 12,
while it ..... smoothes the chains connected to the carrier tape 11, so that the two tapes move relative to each other and thus give the blades 10 the desired inclination, such that it is shown in phantom in fig 11 the angle of oscillation of the suspension pins 64 is indicated in fig 11 by the arrow in lines .., Lites 69 In the upper position of the pins, which corresponds to the iron oture complete with the louver, the chains do not come into contact with the lifting shaft.
This elevator shaft is actuated by means of a mechanism housed in a box 70 in two parts carried by one end of the box 1.
This 70 box contains two bevel gears. The pinion 71 is mounted in front of the axis of the elevator shaft 2 while the hollow pinion 72 @ 73 with square recess, coming out of the box 70 and intended to receive a square end forming part of the rod to. crank The shaft 74 of the pinion 71 also comes out of the box 70, and its end is
