<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Improvement. in washing machines or relating to these machines.
The present invention relates to a. improvement, in-machine; washing-, in which a- pump forces, the washing liquid to. circulate - by force - from the bottom. of the washing container, to mount in a. pipe arranged vertically, in the center to be then poured onto the laundry to be washed.
In the machines. wash¯- of this type previously. known, the circulation which it is desired to give to the liquid is obtained by the action of a thermosiphon, but this requires relatively heating. high, washing liquid to approximately its boiling point. however, it has been proven that laundry should preferably be done at. a temperature of about 60 C, because it is at. this temperature that the detersive power of liquids generally used for laundry reaches its maximum, IL has also been demonstrated. that the laundry is damaged at temperatures above 80.
Previously known washing machines of this type must therefore be considered from this point of view as; not suitable, unsuitable and: not working economically.

The object of the present invention is to obviate these drawbacks and. gone est .. characterized mainly by a bearing nozzle. one or more jet openings and arranged on the central pipe and a centrifugal drum of annular shape suspended so as to be able to pivot on this: pipe, this cylinder being provided with blades arranged so as to be moved by the jet or respectively the jets coming from nozzle; in this way, the washing machine can be used for washing as well as for wringing, using one and the same circulation system.
The invention will be explained in more detail by the description of the application shown in the accompanying drawings and in which: FIG. 1 shows an embodiment of the washing machine in accordance with it. to the invention ,, in longitudinal vertical section, while fig.2 is a section along line II-II of fig.l. fig.3 show in longitudinal section the centrifugal drum, mounted so that it can turn on a pivot and can be placed in and removed from the machine.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2, 1 designates the washing container which is supported by a frame provided with two feet 2.
The container 1 is provided with a cover 4. The heating of the washing liquid in the container 1 is carried out in this embodiment of the invention by heating in a furnace 5, but this heating can also naturally be carried out at. means of electricity. At the bottom of the container 1 is arranged, in a manner known per se, a double bottom 6 preferably having support bands ,. and it is on this background that the laundry must be placed, to obtain circulation of the. lauaurs liquid according to the present invention; the washing machine is fitted with a pump 7 placed below the container 1, in the case described, this centrifugal pump is actuated by an electric motor 8.
The suction pipe 9 of the pump 7 is connected to the lower part of the container 1. The delivery pipe 10 of the pump runs through the bottom of the container 1 and it is connected to a pipe, at the same time 11 opening in the top of the container 1. Above the pipe opening. ascending 11 is a nozzle 12, in the shape of an inverted saucer whose role
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
is to pour the washing liquid - on the laundry - to be washed .. if you want to empty the liquid which is in the container 1, this operation can be carried out by means of the drain pipe 13 connected to the pump: ., this pipe: being provided with a closing device 14.
The gases coming from. hearth 5 pass all around the container, in the space 15 formed between the container and the support and then escape through the orifice 16 for. vent these gases and then go. of the. at. the chimney (not shown).
When you also want to use the washing machine to perform a preparatory spinning of the laundry. lavar, the. liquid that comes from. pipe, ascending 11 is used to operate the centrifugal drum. For this purpose, another nozzle 21 (fig.3) is preferably mounted. the upper part of the riser pipe Ils. this nozzle being provided with guide vanes 22 which direct the liquid obliquely downwards in the. direction of the sea. 23 of the centrifugal drum 24.
This drum is put in. place in such a way that it can be easily removed ,,. it is mounted so as to. be able to pivot - on a point 25 formed by the upper part of the member 21, so that the drum, at the same time as it automatically turns ,,, can be fixed near its gravity dunce passing through the paint 'support 25.
The risk of causing shocks coming from an irregular distribution of the laundry to be washed in the centrifugal drum 24 is thus reduced, as can be seen in FIG. 3 :, the diameter of the centrifugal drum of annular forma increases = going towards down to the bottom of the drum where there is an outlet opening for water in the outer wall of; centrifugal drum.
Naturally, the invention is not limited to the applications shown: and described. ; can it vary from different? ways while remaining within the scope of the invention.
