<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

"Universal device for dressing grinding wheels for grinding gear teeth by profiled grinding wheels".
The present invention relates to an apparatus used for dressing (The profile of the grinding wheels used for grinding the gear teeth obtained by profiled grinding wheel. It is characterized in particular by the fact that the same machine can be used indifferently for the dressing of all grinding wheels included between minimum and maximum pre-established limits and for which the device has been established.
Therefore, a single device could, for example, serve to dress all the grinding wheels used for the roctification of gears used in the same industry, that is to say, the minimum and maximum characteristics are known.
For example, in the case of manufacturing gears for automobile gearboxes, or (Inductive vehicles, the- @

formed by this and the axis of the rod 4.
In order to establish this geometrical condition of the bore of the cursor 15 with respect to the axis of the journals 2, it is necessary that the solid face of the slideway be parallel 2. the axis of the two journals as well as to the rod axis 4.
Therefore, in the bore of the cursor 15 slides, without play, a rod
16 forming the last tool holder is in this case a diamond, for example.
This rod 16 estsupérisurement terrified by a hollow sleeve comprising adjustment screws making it possible to adjust the tip of the diamond, set beforehand in a rod 17.
It should be noted that the point of said diamond must be placed exactly in the axis of the thread 16 and at a distance from the center of the connecting spider 18, equal to that between the tip of the knife 5 and the center. of the pivot
7.
In order to achieve this adjustment, the invention provides a gauge 19 formed, for example, by a small frame, bearing on an extension of the connecting spider 18 and capable of being moved along this extension. Above this gauge is profiled so as to present two arms adjusted in such a way that they embrace with soft friction, the rod 16, which determines the perfect center of a rod, fixed on a proton - upper seed of this gauge 19 and whose sharp point exactly determines the original position of the diamond.
The reference position of this gauge 19 is determined by a stop, disposed at a suitable location on the device and being, for example, the lower cylindrical part of the rod 16. It will therefore be sufficient to initially place the diamond in its position. starting, to bring the cali @ re 19 in the position of, marking and to put in contact, the diamond with the sharp point of the caliber.

On the other hand, to further increase this precision, provision is made to provide the cursor 15 with a last one.
It should be noted that, in the construction illustrated in the attached figures, the zero of the graduation of the slide cannot be represented, given the width of the cursor 15 and that therefore the vernier is placed at a certain distance. - tance of the axis of the diamond holder, from which it follows that the zero will be offset outside the slide by a distance equal to that separating the vernier from the axis of the rod 16.
A particular characteristic of the present device consists of the device for adjusting the position of the guide shell 6. Indeed, it is known that the position of the grinding wheel, relative to the tooth of the gear, during the grinding of that -ci, is very important from the point of view of the yield and the efficiency of said grinding wheel. It follows, therefore, that the grinding wheel must be shaped so that it can be used in the most advantageous position, which is determined by the well-known fact that a grinding wheel is only more efficient if it cuts only through the periphery. of her: profile, / If she works from the side.
To this end, the device is provided with a sector 23 on which the cam 6 is rigidly fixed. This sector is angularly adjustable around the ouselure 24, by the intervention of the two adjustment screws 25, the end of which of the rod is likely to press against a stop 26, the definitive blocking of the sector being obtained. -by screws 27.
It therefore follows that the situation of the involute of the circle will be exactly conformed to obtain a profiled grinding wheel.
