<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
Dans ces conditions, le fonctionnement de, la ramasseuse. ohargeuse est le suivant;

Pick-up-loader at soo 'penetration.
Known collecting and loading devices are, in general, very crowded, very heavy and their use is often impossible on sites of limited dimensions, that is to say in the case of a certain number of mine galleries. of coal. On the other hand, these are devices which include numerous and oomplicated mechanisms, which are intended to cause a shoveling movement substantially similar to shoveling. the hand.
They produce a violent penetration into the pile of materials, a lifting and a projection which causes the loaded materials to fall back on a transport member. This results in a certain crushing of the materials at the time of shoveling and a breakage during the projection, oe which, It is particularly defective when it comes to soft and crumbly coals.
The present invention relates to an automatic pick-up and loading apparatus. '' which may only affect small dimensions, so as to be usable in small-sized sites, the device operating

the collection, by a movement of penetration, rapid but short, in the material, so as to. cause a continuous collapse of the pile of material on a lifting belt, avoiding any jamming and any projection of material. the accompanying drawings represent to.
by way of example, an embodiment of a pick-up-loader intended to run on rails and to pick up the materials in the space between these rails, but it should be understood that the same arrangements for picking up and advancing could be applied to a device sliding on rails and provided with a share the width of which would be greater than the gauge of the rails. The frame 1 supports a trough conveyor belt 2, provided with pallets 3 and whose movement is controlled by
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
a motor 4, via a belt or chain 5.
The foot 6 of the conveyor 2 is extended by a penetration soo 7 formed by two flanges 8 articulated to the frame of the machine at 9 so as to be able, as indicated in phantom, to be raised in position 10 in order to reduce the length of the machine during transport.
These flanges are emntretoisés at their ends by a sheet 11 provided with a ramp 12 disposed above the foot drum 6 and parallel to. the conveyor belt 2. the machine is preferably designed to run on desrails, with the same spacing as those of sedans or wagons, but with a Special profile; these rails can be constituted by¯deux angles 13 braced by U-shaped irons 14 anchored in the ground by piles 15. The angles 13 are provided with running irons 16. Plates 17, placed on the flange of the .cornières, cover the track in front of the machine and are intended to receive the collapsed material.
Collection could be facilitated by arranging, transversely to the axis of the track, ¯ sheets 18 on which the falling debris would be pushed to be brought back onto the sheets 17.
The share 7 is engaged in the ahenel formed by the track and the sheets 17; to allow it to slide, a transverse angle 19 of this ploughshare bears and slides on the flanges of the angles 13; the articulation 9 has play so that the forces exerted on the soo and opposing the advance of the machine, are not transmitted to the axis 9 but are received by the frame 1, by the intermediary of angles 26 abutting against the front of this frame.
To allow the machine to be rolled for the on-site feed, the soo and the front of the machine can be raised above the track. For this purpose, the frame 1 is carried by two sets of wheels; the front wheelset 20 is connected to the frame by a toggle joint 21 constituted by an axis which, on the one hand, is mounted between two flanges 23 fixed to the axle 22 by transvesales angles 24 and, on the other hand
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
hand, rotates in a support 25 fixed to the frame.
The front wheel set can therefore pivot around the axis 21, its rotation being limited by the angles 24 which abut against the support 25 and, on the other hand, the two positions of the wheel set for rolling and rolling. operation of the device are locked at. using pins that are engaged in the corresponding holes of the flanges 2.? and support 25.
Motor 4 attacks, via the gears 27 and 28, a crankshaft rotating in supports mounted on the frame 1. This crankshaft controls, via the connecting rod 29, the advancement mechanism 30, called a clamp.
This toad consists of a plate 31 resting on the rolling track and on which are articulated around the axes ¯32 and 33, two levers 34 and 35. These levers are terminated at one end by a fork, each branch of which carries a shoe with claws 36 and 37 articulated at the end of the branch; the plate 31 is pierced with an orifice in which freely engage the curved ends 38 of the levers.
The movement of the parts 30 is limited by the walls 39 and 40 of the recess of a sled 41. The sled 41, articulated at the foot of the connecting rod 29, moves in the recess of a frame 42 integral with the plate 31. The frame 42 can slide in slides 43, bolted to the plate 31 so as to vary, at will, the distance between the wall 44 of the frame and the wall 45 of the sled. At 46, the frame has an oblique face which can slide in the corresponding face of a wedge-shaped carriage 47. Ge wedge, controlled by a screw 48, allows the frame to be moved along the axis of the track. The screw 48 could be replaced by any other appropriate control member, a lever for example.
The frame can be moved so that, in the middle position of the crankshaft, the levers 34 and 35, the frame recess and the sled 41 admit for axis of symmetry the line A-B passing through the axes 32 and 33; the crankshaft stroke must then be slightly less than the clearance between the frame and the sled, and also less
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
at play between the recess of the sled and the levers 34 and 35 increased by the course of the levers.
It follows from this arrangement that, when the connecting rod advances in the direction of the arrow 49 from the neutral point, the sled follows the same direction up to, oe the wall 30, entering in front of the parts 38, drives the levers 34 and 35 and determines the jamming of the pads 36 against the rolling rails. At this moment, the orapaud is completely blocked. And, so that the crankshaft can continue its rotation, the machine must advance in the direction opposite to that of the arrow 49. When the connecting rod has reached the second neutral point, the sled returns in the opposite direction, which unlocks the runners from the rails and frees the toad.
When wall 45 comes into contact with wall 44, the clamp is driven by connecting rod 2 and moves in the same direction as the machine, but not at the same time, until the crankshaft has returned to its starting point. It is understandable that, in this race, the machine having a weight much greater than that of the toad, it is the latter which advances.
Each rotation of the crankshaft therefore causes an advancing movement of the maohine with respect to the stuck orapaud, then a forward movement of the deooinoé orapaud.
We see that: 1 - the stroke of the maohine is equal to that of the toad.
2 - the stroke of the machine is equal to the difference between the stroke of the crankshaft and the distance from the walls 44 and .45 measured when the sled abuts against the levers and the pads bear oontre the rails.
3 - when one varies, using the wedge 47, the distance from the walls 44 and 45, the stroke of the machine is varied.
4 - by giving the bodies the symmetrical positbn defined above,. ,, the games provided are such that after a stroke of the crankshaft the movement of the sled occurs without. the pads to get stuck and that, consequently, the advancement of the machine and the orapaud is zero.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
the members being symmetrical with respect to the line A-B, the movement in the opposite direction to that which has just been described, can be obtained by the maneuver of the ooin 47.
This reverse gear has the advantage: 1 - of giving great flexibility to. the maneuvering of the machine which can move forward or backward at will without having to resort to force maneuvers.
2 - to allow the release of the machine in the event that it is too engaged in the material following a landslide.
Under these conditions, the operation of the collector. loader is the following;
We have, following the normal rails of the feed track of the machine, the special rails 13 provided with sheets 17 ¯ forming a waterway, and intended to receive the materials which collapse following the drawing of the mines, we forward the machine to the entrance of the gutter, the front of the machine is lowered by acting on the knee lever 21 and the soo is made to penetrate into the gutter. The engine is then started and the clearance between the sled and the toad body is adjusted to give the apparatus the advance corresponding to the flow at. achieve.
As the progress progresses, the sheets 17, arriving on the unolined part 12 of the soo, are lifted, part of the material crumbles and falls on the conveyor 2, while the workers remove the sheets 17 at the time when they are. close to falling on the conveyor belt, which completes the drop of the materials on this belt. It is possible to use normal rails at the front of the machine; it suffices to have the sheets 50 on the shoes of the rails, so as to facilitate the advancement of the share. For this purpose, a beo 51 is riveted to the front of the soo and slides on the sheets. 50.
The penetration of the soo into the material collapsed between the rails is therefore done without drawbacks, the soo working, in this case, like a real shovel.
