Tous les appareils de signalisation existants sont actiannés mécaniquement ou électriquement par une béquille, une gneouillière ou une charnière produisant un mouvement de redressement ou de rabaissement.Ils sont tous exposés aux intem- péries de l'air;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Signaling indicator."
The present invention relates to a signaling indicator operating by a lateral sliding movement, causing the signal to enter or exit by Inaction of a reversible electric motor. The present apparatus is known under the name II L'AS. "
All existing signaling devices are mechanically or electrically actuated by a crutch, a toggle or a hinge producing an upright or lowering movement. They are all exposed to the elements of the air;
weight of snow or influence of frost which,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
frequently limit the action of the device. The device called "AS" is not subject to these drawbacks. it has the great advantage of being in the smallest volume, that is to say in the form of a simple bar (tube) of 30 m / m in diameter and of the same length as the width of the front of the car (windshield). it also has the great advantage of operating on ball bearings without having to resort to any organetal: knee, hinge or flexible which can and must even be broken by wear.
The "AS" consists purely and simply of two copper tubes sliding one inside the other on ball bearings. Attached to the front part of the body, i.e. outside. either inside an ordinary car or driven indoors, it is little or not visible and in no way bulky. As a result, it does not damage the whole of the car, which is not the case for the signals of boxes or arrows actuated by a hose or a knee switch. It can be placed either above the apron or on the upper bar of the torpedes windshield. It is not protruding and does not affect the aesthetics of the car in any way.
The outer tube serves as a protector and guide to the inner tube, which is the signaling device-The same length as the previous one, it can be provided by a set of a central screw acting as a rack, actuated by a reversible electric motor. , exit either by the right part or by the left part over a length of 20 centimeters, a projection large enough to be perceptible by the other following two meters away.
In order to give more visibility to the outgoing part it is painted in a very visible color, and (the more the end is pierced with an opening in which is an electric lamp of color in accordance with the laws and customs of the nations where the appliance will be used, lamp coming on by contact when starting up.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
@ The principle of lateral development, either left or right, fully meets the wishes of the laws of certain countries such as:
Holland and Germany which provide that the directional signal must consist of a protruding device. (uitètekende)
The central screw being able to be modified in length, it is possible to create for each type of car a device appropriate to the said car and corresponding exactly to the width of the car and therefore running no risk of snagging. - deterioration, which is not the case for signaling devices placed on the sides of the car.
The signaling is done bilaterally either to the left or to the right, depending on the needs it has not only the great advantage of being visible at the rear of the car, but also at the front, which is an advantage for the vehicle. city traffic police.
The "AS" signaling device is constructed as follows:
Fig.1 is a schematic view of the device.
Fig.2 is a longitudinal section of the device.
Fig.3 is a longitudinal section of the engine.
Fig.4 is a cross section of the engine.
In the center a sheet metal tube 1 of 50 m / m in diameter and 20 cm. long, containing the electric motor having the great advantage of having in its center a screw motor shaft corresponding to the pitch of a central screw 3 of variable length, itself screwed to two copper tubes 4 d 'a diameter of 28 m / m and 25 cm. long, of which 20 cm. can by action of the motor indicated by border of the tube of 90 m / m in diameter, com. remaining / 4 'in said tube which serves as protector and guide.
The protruding end of the inner tube is painted in a conspicuous color (red or green) in order to increase visibility; moreover the end is provided with a window 5 in which is housed a lamp of the appropriate color: laws and uses countries where the device will be in use.

@ This lamp is switched on automatically by a contact when the appliance is started. These tubes are closed at their end by a copper screw cap 6 which can receive a small electric bayonet lamp. The internal end adapts by means of a thread on a large threaded part 3 'of the central propulsive screw, part which comes up against a stop 7 which limits the stroke in one direction as in the other and which by means of a contact, triggers the gyratory movement of the motor and stops it.
The outer tubes 8 serving as sheath and guide are of suitable variable length and branches on the housing the location of the engine at the maximum width of the car. The outer end is cut at an angle of 45 allowing easy entry and exit. - tie of the inner tube, which in reality is the signaling device, and thus preventing rain or snow from obstructing the outlet tube. The two outer tubes 8 are attached to the central motor by a screw thread adapting it to the motor housing which allows, if necessary, to completely dismantle the device, all the parts being screwed.
The inner tubes 4 constituting the signaling apparatus having a length of 25 om., And the apparatus moving only 20 cm. a part of 5 cm remains. internally in the tube 8 serving as a support for the projecting part and at the same time as a guide for the signaling device actuated by the central screw 3, itself actuated by the screw motor shaft 2.
The opposite end (right-end, if. The left is protruding) by ... entering the tube for a distance equivalent to the distance traveled by the protruding end, it happens that one of the tubes always constitutes support at the same time as a guide to the outgoing part acting as a signal. This system prevents signaling in two directions at the same time, which is possible with the luminous electrical signaling, if you press two points of contact at once.
The outer tube 8 is perforated at regular intervals in order

The whole is taxed to the car by means of clamps with nuts and 8 'screws, the level of which corresponds to the height of the engine housing 1.
The attachment can always be modified according to the circumstances required by the bodywork.
The reversible electric motor serving as a propellant for the "AS" signaling device is made up as follows: '
