De uitvinding betreft een geprefabriceerde fundèringsblok voor gebouwen met het kenmerk dat er geen koudebrug ontstaat tussen de buitenkant en de binnenkant van het gebouw, noch via de fundering zelf, noch via het onderste gedeelte van de wanden. De funderingsblok is geschikt voor fundering tot op vorstvrije grond of vorstranden in combinatie met gewapende funderingsplaat. Klassiek bestaat dergelijke fundering uit een betonnen wand al dan niet voorzien van bewapening, met een diepte en breedte die kan aangepast worden aan de lokale omstandigheden. De vloerplaat wordt klassiek over deze wand aangebracht. Vervolgens worden wanden op deze vloerplaat geplaatst, hetzij enkelwandig, hetzij dubbelwandig, hetzij een raamconstructie of een andere vorm van afscheiding. De uitvinding bestaat uit het plaatsen van een isolerende blok die op de sleuven geplaatst word tot een hoogte alwaar de plaat gegoten kan worden. In de blok is een gleuf voorzien alwaar een isolatieplaat geplaatst word. De vloerplaat wordt tot tegen deze isolerende plaat aangebracht. Het buitenste gedeelte van de wand (gevelsteen) steunt rechtstreeks op deze blok, die op zijn beurt op de fundering rust.
