<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
Daarbij tonen:
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

TUBE LAMP SURROUNDED WITH TRANSPARENT PLASTIC
The present invention relates to a tube lamp, comprising a tube body and at least one tube base mounted on the tube body.
The present invention also relates to a method for manufacturing a tube lamp comprising a tube body and at least one tube base mounted on the tube body.
Such a tube lamp, which can for instance be designed with a straight or curved fluorescent tube that is often used for lighting purposes, is generally known. Such tube lamps are also used for illuminating, for example, dust-poor or hygienic areas, in which, for example, specialist work is being carried out, or sports are being carried out, or goods are being processed or, for example, substances or foodstuffs are to be prepared, whereby at all times prevent that - irrespective of the reason - in occasional cases the tube lamp breaks, as a result thereof glass falls from the fragile tube body, with or without an attached tube base.
In practice, the fluorescent tubes are sometimes placed in closed lighting fixtures. If the tube lamp breaks then the glass at the top of the fixture stays behind and does not fall down. The disadvantage of this is that when replacing the tube lamps, the luminaires have to be removed, which is not only time-consuming and interrupts work and production, but also releases dust and / or glass, which in certain cases results in subsequent cleaning of the entire room must take place before the work can be resumed.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The present invention has for its object to provide a tube lamp which, if the tube body breaks, does not give rise to danger or pollution of the environment.
To this end, the tube lamp according to the invention is characterized in that the tube body is surrounded by a transparent sleeve which is inseparably connected to the at least one tube base.
To that end, the method according to the invention is characterized in that the tubular body is surrounded by a transparent sleeve which is inseparably connected to the at least one tubular base by the operations: crimping, or welding, or by one or more combinations of those operations.
In the event of any breakage of the tubular body, the sleeve holds the tubular body together, so that parts thereof, even when no lighting fixture is used, do not fall down. The tube lamp, the integrity of which is maintained by the sleeve, can be easily and quickly removed and replaced by a new tube lamp without the risk of, for example, releasing glass from the tube body. Various alternatives are possible with regard to the manner to be explained below in which the transparent sleeve can be inextricably connected to the tube base.
An embodiment of the tube lamp according to the invention is characterized in that there is glue between the at least one tube base and the transparent sleeve.
Such glue provides support in the event that the tubular body is broken, so that the tubular lamp does not fall out of its electrical connection points.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
A further embodiment of the tube lamp according to the invention is characterized in that there is a sleeve between the at least one tube base and the transparent sleeve.
That sleeve, the dimensions of which will be adapted to the type of tube lamp used in practice, can be glued between the tube base and the transparent sleeve.
A further preferred embodiment of the tube lamp according to the invention is characterized in that the sleeve is made of a plastic molded with the transparent sleeve.
Gluing the sleeve with the sleeve can then even be dispensed with, which limits the production costs of such a tube lamp.
A still further embodiment of the tube lamp according to the invention is characterized in that the transparent sleeve is made of a plastic to be made plastic by energy supply.
The energy supply can, for example, be thermally and / or ultrasonically, with ultrasonic welding being possible in the latter case, so that the purchase, preparation and application of the glue can be omitted, which has a further favorable effect on the cost price per product.
A favorable embodiment of the tube lamp according to the invention is characterized in that the transparent sleeve is made from a plastic that shrinks when the temperature falls.
The sleeve which, in particular on cooling, either directly or indirectly, shrinks on the tube foot via the sleeve provides a desired good connection
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
between tube base and sleeve. Such a good connection also means that a thin layer of air that is located between the tube body and the transparent sleeve is completely enclosed and cannot escape from it. This now leads to the fact that this layer of air circulates very little under the thermal influence of the burning tube lamp, with the result that the tube lamp can only use the heat it generates to a very limited extent. As a result, the lamp operates earlier at a higher temperature, which leads to the advantage of a previously achieved greater light output.
In practice it has been found that in particular a carbonate-containing plastic has a favorable combination of desired properties, with regard to meltability and weldability, by means of ultrasonic welding.
By stabilizing the plastic against UV radiation, favorable light-transmitting properties of the plastic sleeve are guaranteed for longer.
The glue is preferably a polyurethane-based or multi-component glue, while the tube lamp could be a fluorescent lamp, for example of the well-known T4, T5, T8 or T12 type.
The present invention, together with the further advantages and with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which corresponding parts indicated in the different figures are provided with the same reference numerals, will be further elucidated. Show:
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
Figures 1, 2,3 and 4 show every possible embodiment of the tube lamp according to the present invention.
Figures 1-4 show a tube lamp 1, comprising a partially shown tube body 2, which may be straight, such as for example with a fluorescent tube, or curved, such as may be the case with an energy-saving lamp, curved fluorescent tubes or with advertising lighting. A filament may be present in the tube body 2. The tube lamp has one or more tube bases 3, of which only one is shown in Figures 1-4 for simplicity.
One or more electrical connecting pins 4 protrude through the tubular feet 3. The tubular body 2 is made of a frangible insulating material, usually glass. Around the frangible tube body 2 is a visible light-transparent sleeve 5, which is inseparably connected to the tube base. If the tubular body 2 breaks, its fragments remain within the sleeve 5, which will usually be made of a plastic.
Figure 1 shows an embodiment of the tube lamp 1, wherein the tube base 3 is glued directly into the sleeve 5. If the sleeve 5 was made from a plastic which increased with temperature, but shrinked with a decrease in temperature, the sleeve 5 could be shrunk directly onto the tube base 3, possibly without applying glue. If desired, the ultrasonic or laser welding technique to be explained below can be applied.
Figure 2 shows another embodiment of the tube lamp 1, in which the tube base 3 is mounted on a sleeve 6, which sleeve 6 is formed as an inner peripheral edge with the plastic sleeve 5. The attachment would again be effected by gluing, shrinking or welding to the above explained can be achieved.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
Figure 3 shows another embodiment of the tube lamp 1, in which there is a loose sleeve 6 which is glued to the tube base 3 and wherein the sleeve 5 is glued to the sleeve 6. In the case of a thermoplastic shrinkable or weldable sleeve 5, less or no glue has to be used if desired to connect sleeve 5, sleeve 6 and tube base 3 inseparably.
Figure 4 shows a further embodiment of the tube lamp 1. Herein, the plastic sleeve 5 is welded to the plastic sleeve 6 by means of the aforementioned ultrasonic and / or laser welding. In this way mechanical and / or electromagnetic energy is supplied to the connecting surfaces between in this case sleeve 6 and sleeve 5, whereby at least one of the connecting surfaces becomes plastic and partially melts.
The connection surfaces stick together when cooling down. When a weldable and shrinkable plastic is used, the connecting surfaces are automatically pressed together as a result of the shrinkage to obtain a very solid connection. When applying the welding technique, whether or not in combination with the possible shrinking property of a plastic, the best results are achieved if corresponding, preferably identical, plastics are welded. The application and stocking of glue can then be canceled completely.
Tube base 3, sleeve 6 and sleeve 5 can be made of the same type of plastic, which can contain polycarbonate, and whether or not it is stabilized against UV light.
The glue to be used can be a polyurethane-based glue or be made on the basis of several components, such as plastic resin components.
The tube lamp can be a fluorescent lamp, for example of the type T4, T5, T8 or T12.
