<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
bestaat.
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Connecting construction for a greenhouse or department store
The invention relates to a connecting construction for mutually connecting a gutter and a rod extending transversely thereto in a greenhouse or department store, comprising a sheet metal clamp which engages the rod.
Such a connecting construction is known from Dutch application NL-A-7614302. With such a sheet metal clamp the connection between rod and gutter can be manufactured in a simple and quick manner. For proper operation, the clamp must be resilient so that it can be brought into the correct position by snapping in.
This known connecting construction has the drawback that it is less suitable for transmitting tensile forces into the rod. These tensile forces, however, constitute an important load case, which is related to the suction force which generates a wind sweeping over the greenhouse or the department store.
The object of the invention is therefore to provide a connecting construction which is more resistant to this type of load case. This is accomplished in that the clamp is essentially U-shaped or V-shaped and is pluggable into an associated channel of the rod that terminates at the gutter facing face of the rod, and that the legs of the clamp have barb-shaped projections counteract the movement of the clamp against the insertion direction.
Due to its shape, the clamp according to the invention can be easily inserted into the rod. However, due to the barb-shaped projections, it is not possible to pull it out of the rod again. This is favored by the fact that the rod is made of aluminum. The sheet metal clamp, which consists of steel. will therefore, with its barb-shaped protrusions, eat a little into the aluminum of the rod. which ensures a very good confirmation.
With the known construction must. cut a transverse cut-out in the rod to secure the clamp. However, due to production tolerances, problems arose when mounting the greenhouse cover. The construction according to the invention does not have this drawback. A further advantage is that the large tolerance occurring in practice in the form of the gutter edge can be easily absorbed.
It is possible to have the sheet metal clamp itself, with a part protruding from the rod, engage on the gutter, but preferably a counterpart co-operating with the clamp is provided, which engages on the gutter. This provides the opportunity to remove the protruding part of the rod

structure to give a certain thickness, so that the desired strength and stiffness can also be obtained for this part. This counterpart is preferably manufactured, for example sawn, from an aluminum profile.
According to a favorable embodiment, the counterpart has a flange which is received in the space of the clamp bounded by the legs. Both legs of the clamp are hereby loaded symmetrically by the counterpart, which improves the reliability of the construction. Clamp and counterpiece may be attached to each other in that at least one leg of the clamp has an extension projecting toward the interior between the legs, which is received in a groove in the flange of the counterpiece. Preferably, both legs of the clamps have an internally pointing barb-shaped protrusion which counteracts the movement of the counterpart out of the clamp.
The counterpart is preferably designed such that it engages the inside of a gutter open at the top. In this embodiment, the path traveled by the forces between gutter and rod is as small as possible. which gives the connecting construction a high rigidity.
In the construction of a department store or greenhouse, a gutter is often used with an outwardly pointing edge, while in the end face of the rod facing the gutter a slot is provided in which that edge can be plugged.
In such an embodiment, the construction according to the invention is preferably designed in such a way that the recess for receiving the clamp is located above that slot.
Finally, in a preferred embodiment, the clamp is stainless steel, and the counterpart is aluminum.
The invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to an exemplary embodiment shown in the figures.
Figure 1 shows a section through a connection construction according to the invention.
Figure 2 shows a cross section through a rod.
Figure 3 shows a perspective view of the clamp and the counterpart according to the invention.
Figure 4 shows the connecting construction according to the invention used in a different type of gutter.
In the connecting construction shown in figure 1, the gutter is indicated with 1. and the rod with 2. In the rod, a glass plate 3 is included. Rod 3 and gutter 1 are connected to each other by means of the connecting construction indicated in its entirety by 4. This connecting construction comprises a sheet metal clamp 5, which is preferably made of spring steel
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
exists. The connecting construction further comprises a counterpart 6, which preferably consists of aluminum.
As can also be clearly seen in Figure 3, the sheet metal clamp 5 is U- or V-shaped, with two legs 7, 8. Both legs have outwardly pointing barb-shaped projections 10, and also each an inwardly pointing barb-shaped projection 11. The counterpart 6, also shown, has a flange 12, which can be accommodated between the legs 7, 8 of the clamp 5. A groove 13 is arranged on both sides of the flange 12, in which the barb-shaped projections 11 can be clicked when sliding on the flange 12 of the clamp 5. In figure 1 it is shown that these protrusions 11 are located in the grooves 13. It can also be seen there that the protrusions 10 have been etched into the material of the rod 2.
As shown in Figure 2, the rod 2 has a central closed section, which has a constriction through which a chamber-shaped recess 14 is formed. The clamp 5 with the counterpart 6 is slid into this recess 14. The barb-shaped protrusions 10 thereby fix in the facing wall parts 15, 16 'of the recess 14 of rod 2.
The glass plates 3 can be received in the slots 17 of the rod 2.
As further shown in Figure 1, chute 1 has an outwardly pointing edge 18, which projects into a slot 19 which opens on the end face of rod 2 facing the trough 1. Thus rod 2 is blocked in vertical direction relative to the trough 1.
The counter piece 6 now has a downwardly pointing leg 20, which engages the inner side 21 of gutter 1.
The counterpart 6 also has a leg 28 running parallel to flange 12, which can be received in a chamber 29 of the rod 2.
The assembly of the connecting construction now proceeds as follows. First of all, rod 2 is inserted with its recess 19 on the outwardly pointing edge 18 of gutter 1. The metal clamp with the counterpart 6 received therein is then pushed into the recess 14 of the rod 2. As soon as the possibly roughened end face 22 of leg 20 comes into contact with the inside 21 of gutter 1, the fastening construction is ready. As a result of the barb-shaped protrusions 10, which immediately snap into the facing surfaces 15, 16 of the rod 2, clamp 5 with counterpart 6 can no longer move back. A reliable fastening construction is thus obtained in a quick and simple manner.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
In view of the direct power transmission between rod 2 and gutter 1, that is to say via the shortest possible route by means of the leg 20 of counterpart 6 which can have the desired thickness. this fastening construction has very good strength and stiffness properties.
Figure 4 shows the same fastening construction again, but now applied to an alternative gutter design. This alternative gutter embodiment has a closed tube 23. on which the actual gutter profile 24 is mounted by means of clamping pieces 25. Clamping pieces 25 are fastened to tube 23 by means of bolt 26. Furthermore, gutter 24 has an upright edge 27, which is provided at its top end. is of an outwardly pointing edge 28. This edge 28 is again accommodated in the slot-shaped recess 19 on the gutter-facing end face of the rod 2. As a result, the fixing construction can be the same as that according to figure 1.
