Abstract

A method for selectively preparing 2,5-furandicarboxaldehyde (FDC) from 5-hydroxymethyl furan 2-carboxaldehyde (HMF) dissolved in a liquid solvent in contact with at least one solid compound including at least one oxide of a metal selected from the metals in columns IV B, V B and VI B of the periodic table of elements, at a temperature of 75-200 DEG C.
