Description

Complete Specification Innovation Patent 2016102040 18 Jan 2017
Anti-Chatter Squeegee Attachment
The invention relates to improvements in the operation of a squeegee to clear a fluid namely water which has been spilt or hosed on the floor to facilitate the cleaning of the floor. There has always been difficulty in removing the water especially from the corners of where two walls meet to form a corner.
On the forward stroke of the squeegee which is when it is being pushed away from oneself there is no chattering of the squeegee blade. On the return stroke the blade tends to chatter on the floor being cleaned because of the angle of the blade in relation to the floor.
This problem has been overcome by my invention by changing the angle of the squeegee blade on the return stroke without having to lower the handle of the squeegee to alter the angle of the blade on the floor to prevent the chatter. This makes cleaning the floor less tedious as there is not too much extra effort required.
In one form of the invention, it can be made to be mounted on the top of the squeegee where the design of the squeegee permits.Another way is to mount the invention on the back of the squeegee to compensate for the different manufactures design.
Either way the invention will work as only the position of the operating handle needs to be changed.
The invention can be manufactured from either polypropylene or fabricated from either zinc coated steel or plain aluminium. 2016102040 18 Jan 2017
The accompanying drawings will explain the actual design of the invention and will show in detail the two methods of how it can be adapted to suit either top or rear mount and also the relevant position of where the operating handles are mounted. 2016102040 18 Jan 2017

Claims (1)

  1. Claims The attachment consists of a separate mechanism which is hinged on one edge similar to an ordinary butt hinge but without the mounting screw holes. Near each end of the hinge there are suitable holes which are drilled through both sides of the hinge to facilitate the insertion of clevis pins. Compression springs are held in place on the outside of one side of the hinge with either a split pin or a 'R' clip. This limits the travel of the hinge when it is opened up manually. There are suitable holes drilled in one hinge leg to facilitate the mounting of the attachment to either the top of a squeegee or the back of a squeegee. Where the attachment is mounted determines the position of the normal operating handle. If the hinge is mounted on the top of the squeegee the the handle is mounted accordingly. If the hinge is mounted on the rear of the squeegee then the handle needs to be mounted to compensate for the change. The accompanying drawings explain the differences.
