Abstract

A laundry stand which can be clamped between ceiling 1 and floor 2 has a central upright tube 3 with an outer tube 4 and with an inner tube 5 displaceable therein. The inner tube 5 is supported on the ceiling 1 via a compression spring 13. For bracing and locking the upright tube between the ceiling 1 and floor 2, there is a clamping lever 18 which is mounted on the outer tube 4 so as to be pivotable about an axis 20 extending transversely relative to the longitudinal axis of the upright tube 3 and which has, on its basic body 21 with a cylindrical outer face, some tooth-like projections 23 which come into engagement with tooth spaces 24 of a rack 19 attached to the inner tube 5, when the clamping lever 18 is rotated in the clockwise direction. The inner tube 5 is thereby pushed upwards, the compression spring 13 being compressed. In its end position, the clamping lever 18 catches in a blocking nose 28 of a resilient catch device 25. After the catch device has been released, the spring 13 presses the inner tube 5 downwards, with the result that the clamping lever 18 is pivoted and the tooth-like projections 23 come out of engagement. The inner tube 5 can then be pushed freely into the outer tube 4. <IMAGE>
