Process for the production of a waterproof floor covering.
The invention relates to a method for producing a waterproof floor covering from wood, cork, corncob meal and other specifically light ground substances, which are bound by means of dissolved, i.e. liquid nitrocellulose with the addition of castor oil or carbolic oil or the like. The method consists in that the ground materials are either mixed with one another or each by itself through a vibrating sieve on a web of jute, linen or other fabric. which runs through a calender equipped with heatable cylinders, are applied and the material particles are moistened with the above-mentioned binding agent as they fall from the vibrating sieve onto the fabric web by atomizing nozzles directed against one another.
The waterproof floor covering produced in this way is then, as usual, hung up in troubled rooms at a temperature of at least 30 degrees. to be completely dried. Although it is already known for the production of wall cladding material, synthetic leather and. The like. To apply a paste produced by mixing the above-mentioned materials either in a viscous state by means of a coating machine or in a thin-fluid state by means of atomizing nozzles on a base (fabric, paper). However, neither one nor the other method is suitable for producing a floor covering, which must have a thickness of at least 11 / 2-2 mm.
If you were to mix the above-mentioned materials into a paste as thick as the floor covering required, in order to be able to apply them with a coating machine, the solid material particles would soak up with the binder that the end product would be horn-like stiff
EMI1.1
In order to protect the fabric on the back of a floor covering as described above or otherwise produced against moisture, a paint with a high iron oxide content, mixed with sulfite algae, is also applied to the fabric by a commonly used coating machine. In the drying chamber, this coating then becomes so hard that it is no longer water-soluble.
