Cartridge shell with attached bottom edge.
EMI1.1
the right half is a view of the sleeve, the attached bottom edge is intended to be cut. FIG. 2 shows the point of FIG. 1 surrounded by a dotted circular line on a larger scale. a is the one-piece thick case base, which is provided with any profiled grooves on its surface. Corresponding grooves are made on the inside of the bottom edge b to be placed. The bottom edge b is dimensioned with its inner diameter so that it can be pushed over the grooved part of the bottom shell after heating to around 200 to 3000. The bottom edge is then pressed together by radial pressure on all sides, so that it connects firmly and reliably to the sleeve body, partly also under the effect of the shrinkage.
3 and 4 correspond to FIGS. 1 and 2 with the modification that the grooves run helically. In this case, the inner diameter of the bottom edge b to be placed on is dimensioned so that it can be screwed on after heating, whereupon the more solid connection with the sleeve body is then also made by the all-round radial pressure.
These methods of connecting the bottom edge with the sleeve body are particularly reliable in their effect. One could, however, make do with shrinking without pressing, especially in the case of FIGS. 3 and 4, as is the case with other

And nowhere is there a point that could have a disruptive effect when working on the bottom edge or the lower operating surface, since the connection is completely reliable without welding. When the bottom edge is pressed on, it is also of great benefit that the thick sleeve base consists of one piece and that therefore the part on which the grooves are located can withstand the pressure well.
If, for some reason, the attached bottom edge should not be sufficiently tight, this will be immediately apparent during subsequent machining on the lathe, so that there are no concerns that the bottom edge could come off when the cartridge is used.
