The invention relates to a device for humidifying a gas stream with a device for evaporating water.
Usually, devices for evaporating water are used for humidifying gas streams, wherein the water vapor must be mixed in a corresponding mass flow ratio of the gas flow.
If, in addition, a predetermined temperature of the humidified gas flow is maintained, the result is complicated regulations.
The invention is thus based on the object, a device for humidifying a gas flow of the type described in such a way that less complex constructive conditions for a gas humidification while maintaining predetermined humidity and temperature values are created.
The invention achieves the stated object in that the device for evaporating the water comprises at least one open-pore, non-metallic flow body through which the gas stream to be humidified is connected to a distributor device for the water to be evaporated,
and a microwave heater radiating into the flow body.
Due to its open porosity, the flow body offers advantageous conditions for uniform moistening of the flow stream passing through the gas flow, if care is taken by means of a distributor device that an amount of water adapted to the gas flow rate is available within the flow body to provide a corresponding vapor input in the local area of the pores to ensure in the gas flow. The moistening of the gas stream can Runaway for gas streams in different pressure ranges
be led. The microwave heating supports the evaporation of the water and leads via the water heating to a simple influence on the temperature of the gas stream.
Thus, not only an otherwise unavoidable cooling of the gas stream can be compensated by the withdrawal of the heat of vaporization, but also a required temperature of the gas stream can be maintained. For this purpose, the energy to be introduced via the microwave heating is to be controlled in accordance with the respective temperature requirements. With regard to the microwave heating, the open-pore flow body is to be made of a material that has sufficient permeability to the microwaves and is not reflected on the pore surface.
This means that the flow bodies must be limited to non-metallic materials.
Thus, regardless of fluctuations in the temperature and humidity values of the gas stream to be humidified setpoint values of temperature and humidity can be maintained after humidification of the gas stream in a narrow tolerance range, the distributor device can be assigned a metering unit for the supplied water, wherein the metering unit and the Microwave heating by means of a control device in dependence on the moisture content and the temperature of the humidified gas flow can be controlled.
If the actual values of moisture and the temperature of the gas stream emerging from the humidifying device deviate from the predetermined nominal values, then the metering unit and / or the microwave heating is controlled in the sense of a desired actual value adjustment with the aid of the control device.
Although differently structured distribution devices can be provided for supplying the flow body with water penetrating into the open pores, particularly advantageous construction conditions result if the distribution device for the water to be evaporated has a water-permeable jacket of the flow body, preferably a nonwoven covering the flow body. Of course, the distribution task can also be solved with the help of a corresponding outer layer of the flow body itself.
By a water-permeable jacket, which also fulfills a distribution function for the absorbed water over the lateral surface, the water to be evaporated over a large part of the outer surface of the flow body can be supplied and distribute itself largely uniformly in the flow body through the open pores, The non-metallic flow body can be made of a foamed ceramic material, which hardly attenuates the microwave of the microwave heating and therefore for evaporation of the water under Influence of the microwaves over the entire pore volume provides.
To enhance the germicidal effect of the microwaves, the flow body of the ceramic material may contain silver ions. For shielding the microwaves to the outside, the flow body with the distributor device can be arranged in a metallic housing which has inlet and outlet connections for the gas flow and a water connection for the distributor device.
In the drawing, the subject invention is shown, for example, and that an inventive device for moistening a gas stream is shown in a schematic longitudinal section.
The illustrated device for moistening a gas stream has a metallic housing 1 with an inlet connection 2 and a discharge connection 3 for the gas stream, for example air, and a water connection 4.
In the housing 1, a non-metallic flow body 5 made of an open-cell material, preferably of a foamed ceramic material is used, which is coated with a sheath of a nonwoven as a distributor device 6 for the water to be evaporated, which is supplied through the water connection 4 via a metering unit 7 is distributed within the housing 1 over the outer surface of the flow body 5 and penetrates through the open pores in the flow body by utilizing the capillary action.
In a longitudinal bore 8 of the flow body 5, an electrode 9 of a microwave heater 10 is used, so that the generated by a microwave generator <> _ 4 <*> - <** *> and radiated from the electrode 9 microwaves penetrate the non-metallic flow body 5 and at the Housing wall are reflected.
Due to the impingement of the flow body 5 with microwaves, the water penetrating into the flow body 5 is vaporized and entrained by the gas flow passing through the flow body 5, which is accordingly moistened and possibly heated.
So that constant values of the moisture content and the temperature of the gas stream can be ensured at the outlet connection 3, an encoder 11 for the respective moisture and temperature of the gas stream emerging from the housing 1 is provided at the outlet connection 3. This sensor 11 is connected to a control device 12, with the help of which, on the one hand, the microwave heater 10 and, on the other hand, an actuating drive 13 for the dosing unit 7 can be controlled.
The control device 12 can be preset via an input stage 14, the respectively required setpoints for the humidity and the temperature of the gas stream. If the actual value of the humidity and / or the temperature detected by the sensor 11 deviates from the entered desired values, then the microwave heater 10 and / or the dosing unit 7 are acted upon by the control device 12 in the sense of a desired actual value comparison and the deviating actual values again to the nominal values recycled.
