In order to keep the pressure loss low, the invention provides that the two gas valves 3, 4 are connected in series with the suction side of the compressor 6, with the gas valve 4 which is connected immediately upstream of the compressor 6 being controlled as a function of the output pressure from the compressor 6, and being connected via a control line 5 to the pressure side of the compressor 6. <IMAGE>

Description

AT 407 316 BAT 407 316 B

The invention relates to a compressor control according to the preamble of claim 1.

A certain pressure on the gas and air side is required to operate a fuel cell, which has a decisive influence on the efficiency. With increasing compressor work, however, the system efficiency of a fuel cell system, which includes a reformer, a compressor, pumps, fuel cell and other components, is reduced. It is therefore necessary to achieve a low pressure drop in the system. For the gas-side safety chain, two independent gas valves are required for gas devices, one of which generally also regulates the gas flow. In the case of a fuel cell arrangement with a compressor, however, it must be ensured that the gas valves are open when the compressor is in operation. Otherwise, the compressor could create a negative pressure in the gas lines against the atmospheric pressure, which would allow air to enter the gas path.

A fuel cell arrangement is known from US Pat. No. 4,973,528, which has an auxiliary burner fed by a turbo compressor.

A fuel cell arrangement is also known from JP 60-262364, in which the temperature and pressure of the fuel cell is determined by a turbo compressor as a pressure medium source.

Die DE 42 01 795 lehrt ein Verfahren zur Leistungssteigerung einer Wasserstoff/Luft-Brenn-stoffeelle, bei der der Sauerstoffpartialdruck der der Brennstoffeelle zuströmenden Luft über einen Verdichter erhöht wird.DE 42 01 795 teaches a method for increasing the performance of a hydrogen / air fuel cell, in which the oxygen partial pressure of the air flowing into the fuel cell is increased by a compressor.

This is also the problem known from US 5 678 410. DE 198 31 100 describes a fuel cell system of the solid polymer electrolyte type in which a compressor is provided, the number of revolutions of which can be significantly increased by certain means.

The aim of the invention is to propose a compressor control of the type mentioned at the outset, which is distinguished by a simple structure.

According to the invention, this is achieved in a compressor control of the type mentioned at the outset by the characterizing features of claim 1.

The proposed measures result in a very simple structure, in which there is only a very small pressure loss in normal operation.

It is particularly advantageous to provide the features of claim 2.

The proposed measures make it possible for the compressor to start up when the electromagnetically actuated gas valve is open, initially building up a vacuum on the suction side, as a result of which the check valve opens. The check valve is designed so that it remains closed when the normal gas connection pressure is applied, even when the second valve is open. This avoids excessive negative pressure in the gas path and the compressor begins to build up excess pressure on its pressure side. If a certain pressure is reached, the pressure-dependent gas valve opens and the check valve closes.

According to a variant of the invention, the features of claim 3 are provided.

In this embodiment, it is advantageous to provide the features of claim 4. These measures minimize the pressure loss during the start phase.

The features of claim 5 result in a particularly simple structure, but with somewhat higher pressure losses.

The features of claim 6 result in the advantage that the gas throughput can be regulated.

The features of claim 7 also make it possible to regulate the gas throughput.

The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the drawing. FIGS. 1 to 4 schematically show different embodiments of a compressor control according to the invention.

Claims (7)

AT 407 316 B In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, a gas filter 2 is connected to a gas supply line 1, which is followed by a gas valve 3 with an electromagnetic drive 15. This gas valve 3 is followed by a parallel connection, which is formed from a further gas valve 4, which is pressure-controlled, and a check valve 8, which is connected to the gas valve 4 via pipes 7. This parallel connection is followed by a compressor 6, a control line 5 being connected to the pressure side 16 of the compressor 6 and leading to the return drive 17 of the gas valve 4. In this embodiment, when the compressor 6 starts up, it first builds up a suppressor through which the check valve 8 opens. This avoids that too great a negative pressure is created in the gas path and the compressor begins to build up an overpressure on the pressure side 16. When the compressor 6 has reached a minimum pressure, the gas valve 4 is opened and the flow path is opened, the check valve 8 closing. This keeps the pressure loss very low. The gas throughput is controlled by changing the compressor output. In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, the construction of which is essentially similar to that according to FIG. 1, instead of the pressure-controlled gas valve 4, a gas valve 11 is provided, the electromagnetic drive 18 of which is controlled by a differential pressure meter 10. The differential pressure meter 10 is connected via control lines 9 to the suction 19 and pressure side 16 of the compressor 6. The differential pressure meter 10 is connected to the electromagnet 18 of the gas valve 11 via a signal line 12. In this embodiment, as in the embodiment according to FIG. 1, depending on the volume of the gas line between the gas valve 3 and the compressor 6, the check valve 8 can be dispensed with. In the embodiment according to FIG. 3, the second gas valve is dispensed with. A gas filter 2 is connected to the gas supply line 1 and is followed by a gas valve 3. Furthermore, the gas valve 3 is followed by a check valve 8, which is connected upstream of the suction side of the compressor 6. This embodiment is characterized by a high degree of simplicity, although there is a somewhat higher pressure loss compared to the embodiments according to FIGS. 1 and 2. In the embodiment according to FIG. 4, the suction side of the compressor 6 is preceded by a gas filter 2 and a gas valve 3. The pressure side of the compressor 6 is followed by a pressure regulator 13 and a gas control valve 14. The pressure regulator 13 and the gas control valve 14 can be combined in one valve. With this version, it is possible to regulate the gas throughput in a simple manner. Furthermore, it is also possible to provide the gas pressure regulator 13 and the gas control valve 14 in the other embodiments as well. PATENT CLAIMS: 1.
