The thrust bearing, which is the subject of the parent patent, is relatively limited in its application, because naturally the surface pressure between the balls v and w must be very high if the supporting pressure to be absorbed is not within very narrow limits holds. Since the bearing is primarily intended for vehicles in which the greatest stresses are usually caused by shocks, the effects of which are quite unpredictable, the need arose for a device

without generally impairing the effect of the support bearing.
Such a device forms the subject of the present invention, which essentially consists in that the support bearing according to the parent patent is connected to a second support bearing in such a way that the latter only comes into effect when the stress on the former exceeds a certain level. For this purpose, for example, the inner edge of the sleeve q of the bearing according to the parent patent can be designed as a ball track, while the support ball w is resiliently mounted. If the pressure then exceeds the spring force, the end of the shaft is supported against the ball track and this therefore absorbs the excess pressure without significantly increasing the pin friction against rotation.
The drawing corresponds to Fig. 3 of the parent patent. a is the journal, b the bearing shell, v and w are the support balls, which are in a similar way to the trunk

but here not directly in the corresponding recess of the bearing cap, but in a cup c, which in turn is fitted into the recess of the cap in a longitudinally displaceable manner. At the bottom of this recess a recess is provided and in this a (rubber washer d is inserted. The cap is also provided with a second annular recess, which surrounds the first and receives a ball ring consisting of the two grooved rings e and f, the balls g, 9 and the Blerbring h.
The edges of the sheet metal ring are pressed around the switches of the two rings e and f and hold the whole ball track together so that it can be inserted into the bearing like one piece. The height of the ball valve and the depth of the recess in which it is located are dimensioned so that when the bearing is operated correctly, the end face of the pin a does not touch the ball track. If, however, the support pressure exceeds a certain amount, the rubber cushion d is compressed to such an extent that the pin runs against the ball track, and this then takes up the excess support load.
The inventor takes it for granted that both friction balls r and can be mounted resiliently and that the ball track could also be resiliently mounted in a similar manner, provided that the device is designed in such a way that the purpose of the invention is achieved, which consists in that the friction balls should be protected from excessive stress.
