Österreichische PATENTSCHRIFT Nr. 16537. FRITZ GROSZ IN SCHÖNEBERG BEI BERLIN.
Tiefbohrvorrichtung.

<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Austrian PATENT LETTER No. 16537. FRITZ GROSZ IN SCHÖNEBERG NEAR BERLIN.
Deep drilling device.
It is characteristic of the present device that, to a certain extent, two drilling systems are combined with one another, namely firstly the pivot system and secondly the drum system. Both systems have certain advantages and also certain disadvantages, the former being united by the present combination while the latter are avoided.
As is well known, the Schwongel apparatus is excellently suited to bringing about the impacts favorable to the progress of the work when drilling, but on the other hand it is known that guiding the drilling rope, especially with deep boreholes, always causes difficulties and that one has already resorted to quite complicated constructions which, however, again endanger the safety of the company. For drilling operations with a cable drum, these complicated guides etc. for the cable are not required, since the entire supply of cable can be contained on the drum.
In previous attempts to drill directly with the cable drum, the drum was fixed and now you have. In order to achieve bouncing blows, the simplification offered by the drum in the rope guide was given up again and the rope was not allowed to run from the drum directly to the borehole, but rather the same even more special - reverse pulley blocks comparable - pulley

and through the arrangement of elastic holding or carrying devices are intended to enable the generation of impacts.
These two systems are now combined in the invention, u. In such a way that one arm of the lever is formed by the radius of the drum, while the second arm is formed by the lever engaging the drum. The drum'1 itself is elastically mounted and when it is set in vibration by the acting lever, the drum can yield in the same way as an elastically suspended handle, so that the rebound connections are created in the known manner, in other words, the Facility offers the opportunity to get the well-known good effect of the lever apparatus and at the same time the drilling rope without any guide devices u. like
to run directly from the handle, which here partly consists of the dour roll, to the borehole.
Such a drilling device is shown schematically in the drawing. 1 to 8 show a side view, front view and plan.
The rope a, on which the tool hangs below, is wound onto a drum b. In the example shown, this drum is supported by a piston c with two piston rods d raised on either side of the drum. The piston c is located in a cylinder in which an air cushion is arranged under the piston in space e ', which elastically supports the piston and therefore the drum. A lift 1 f engages on the drum axis and is connected to the drum b by a worm drive g in such a way that the drum is opposite the lever eleven. can be rotated for the purpose of slackening the rope a.
A steam engine h or the like with a crank mechanism i sets through the connecting rod. k vibrates the lever f. The tension resp. the load-bearing capacity of the buffer must change frequently depending on the operating conditions. When using spring buffers, this can be easily achieved by changing the number of springs used. With air cushions, it is best to become a pump

use to increase the air quantum accordingly, respectively. to be able to replace the air escaping through the cylinder. An air pump cylinder I is indicated below the cylinder e with a connection m to the buffer space e '.
This air pump can be continuously connected to the crank mechanism i, for example by a push rod M, and the air pump can then be regulated by setting valves or taps.
