Teaching device for demonstrating mechanical vibration processes of a more complex kind
The invention relates to a teaching device for demonstrating mechanical vibration processes of a more complicated type, whereby z. B.
Coupling vibrations, the bell and clapper system or systems in general, in which one vibrating body influences another vibrating body. According to the invention, the teaching device consists of a multiple pendulum carried by a stand or the like with adjustable suspension points, adjustable pendulum lengths and optionally exchangeable weights of one of the individual pendulums hanging on the other. Particularly clear and memorable relationships between the movement and energy transitions from one vibrating body to the other can be obtained if the individual pendulums are mounted in such a way that they can perform full circular vibrations.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing.
1 is the stand of the device provided with a footplate 2. 3, 4, 5 are three pendulums, of which the pendulum 3 is mounted directly on the stand itself in a bearing 6, while the pendulum 4 is attached to the pendulum 3 and the pendulum 5 is again attached to the pendulum 4. Bearing bushings 7 and 8 are used to suspend the pendulums 4 and 5, which are longitudinally displaceable on the rods of the pendulums 3 and 4 and can be fixed in the desired position by screws 9 and 10. The pendulum lengths can be changed by moving the pendulum rods 3, 4, 5 longitudinally in their suspension axes 13, 14, 15 or by moving the weights on the pendulum rods; the screws 23, 24, 25 are used to fix the pendulum rods in the suspension axes. 34 and 35 designated pendulum weights are also adjustable along the pendulum rods and can be fixed by screws 43, 44 and 45.
It is also useful to use interchangeable weights of various types for the device
Size belong. The mounting of the pendulums, as shown, is such that each pendulum can also perform full circular oscillations.
If all three pendulums z. B. be lifted from the rest position by the same angle and released to swing, it soon becomes apparent that the oscillation amplitudes of the individual pendulums change significantly and also that the pendulums then gradually swing in different rhythms. The energy transitions within the entire oscillating system are particularly drastic and evident on the device, in that one or the other pendulum even temporarily changes to full circular oscillations (whereby all pendulums are initially only caused to oscillate within limited arc lengths), while another pendulum does Swinging almost ceases for a while, but then swings again itself with increasing deflection, etc.
Due to the adjustability of the various parts of the device, the most varied of basic conditions can be set and thus the vibration conditions of various composite vibration systems can be followed and studied.
