Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
EMI1.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Example: A solution of supersulfuric acid produced by the electrolysis of sulfuric acid is passed through a steam-heated distillation tube under reduced pressure and the emerging vapor mixture is passed through a known type of liquid separator. The vapors emanating from the liquid separator, which still contain considerable amounts of sulfuric acid, are passed through an earthenware tower with a diameter of 61 cm and which is filled with a 38 cm high layer of quartz pieces with a diameter of 6-3 mm to 1-9 cm is; the quartz grain layer is supported by a double layer of Guttmann spheres about 10 cm high.
An opening is provided on the lower part of the tower below the layer of Guttmann spheres, through the upper part of which the vapors freed from the acid mist exit. The separated acid flows off at the bottom of the tower. The vapor mixture leaving the tower is passed into a rectification device under vacuum, where it is concentrated on more concentrated hydrogen peroxide, e.g. B.
100% hydrogen peroxide is processed. The amount of sulfuric acid in 100 cm3 of the 100 percent by volume hydrogen peroxide solution thus obtained is only 0.15 to 0.37 g.
When operating the method of the invention it was z. B. possible to obtain a condensate with an average sulfuric acid content of only 0.239 g in 100 ems. When using Rasehig rings, on the other hand, the content of sulfuric acid could not be reduced further than to 0.75 g in 100 cm3.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A method for cleaning, in particular for reducing the acid content of mixtures of hydrogen peroxide vapor and water vapor, which contain acid in a finely divided state, by passing the vapor mixture through a tower filled with packing, characterized in that the tower filling consists of quartz pieces.
