Fig. 3 zeigt eine ähnliche Ausführungsform wie Fig. 1.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Drill shank and removable drill head for rock drill bits.
The invention relates to drill shafts and removable drill heads for rock drills, in particular ram drills that perform a rotary movement, u. between that type of drill in which the removable drill head is provided with a threaded hole in which a threaded piece engages in order to connect the drill head to the drill shaft, the latter also having a threaded hole. In this way, the drill shaft and drill head are brought into an operational connection in abutment.
The invention aims to improve the connection and fastening between the threaded connector and the drill head.
A drill shank and removable drill head designed according to the invention for use with rock drills is designed in such a way that the abutting end surfaces of both the drill shaft and the drill head are countersunk at the mouths of the threaded holes, so that no shear stress occurs between these end surfaces and the connecting piece.
Another feature of the invention is that the connection piece is held at the mouth of the threaded bore of the drill head by material displaced after the insertion of the same at places where the threads or their crests have been removed before the connection piece is inserted.
Fig. 1 shows a longitudinal section through an embodiment of a composite drill shaft and removable drill head according to the invention. Fig. 2 shows the individual parts before they are assembled. FIG. 3 shows an embodiment similar to FIG. 1. FIG. 4 shows a side view of the connecting piece shown in FIG.
The drawings illustrate the application of the invention to a hollow drill.
The invention can of course also be used with full drills. a is the drill shank, b the removable drill head made of hard material and c the connector for these parts. The three parts are provided with axial bores d, e and t, respectively, to allow a detergent, e.g. B. water to feed the end of the drill, the harmful and the sharpness of the drill reducing dust. The end face g of the drill shank comes to rest with the end face h of the drill head. In the drill shank a provided with a screw thread bore i is provided which has a recess j at the mouth.
The drill head b is also provided with a threaded bore k so that the drill shank a and drill head b can be connected to one another axially and in abutment by a connecting piece c which is provided with an external thread. The length of the connecting piece c is less than the sum of the lengths of the two bores i and k.
At the end face A of the drill head, the material is left unhardened or slackened at a depth of, for example, two threads. Before the drill shank a and drill head b are connected to one another, the connecting piece c is inserted into the threaded hole k of the drill head b to the desired extent, i.e. H. so far that its inner end has a certain distance from the end of the threaded hole k.
It is now on the surface h of the drill head b, which surrounds the mouth of the threaded bore k of the same directly, with the help of an upsetting tool or a similar tool with an annular end, so that the relatively soft material m is displaced at this mouth, so that a Deformation of the screw threads of the bore occurs, which causes an irregularity in the engagement of the screw threads of the connecting piece c and the drill head b, whereby this connecting piece and the drill head prevent axial movement
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
or rotation against each other.
In this way, the connecting member is firmly connected to the drill head, part of this connecting member protruding and being able to be inserted into the threaded bore t of the drill shaft a. The piece of the connecting link protruding from the drill head is so long that it cannot fill the entire length of the threaded hole i of the drill shaft a, and therefore does not prevent the latter from being screwed on so tightly that its end surface g comes into contact with the end surface h of the drill head b arrives.
As can be seen from FIG. 1, the displacement of the material m at the mouth of the threaded hole h of the drill head b creates a depression which is similar to the depression i of the drill shank a. As a result, the end faces g and h have no sharp edges at these points and shear stresses on the connecting piece c are avoided.
One or more threads of the connecting piece or their crests can be removed, as shown at n in FIGS. 3 and 4, so that a considerable displacement of the material m of the drill head b is achieved, whereby a larger surface of the connecting piece c for holding is used.
According to the invention, therefore, drill heads can be produced and sent to the workplace, the connecting piece of which is attached and secured against removal. In this way it is ensured that when a drill head is removed from the drill shank, the connection piece always goes with the drill head, so that the worker no longer has to worry about the connection piece. Furthermore, when the drill heads are sent for resharpening, the connector serves to carry or hold them during the resharpening. After several re-sharpening operations, the drill head becomes too short for further use and is thrown away together with the connector.
It should be noted that the connector is firmly connected to the drill head in order to form a unit with it for the purpose of assembling and detaching it from the drill shaft, and that this connector always acts as a free connecting member that connects the drill head and drill shaft to one another without To transmit drill shocks, since this connecting piece is only fixed approximately in the middle of its length, while otherwise it has a relatively loose fit.
