The orientation of the support roller changing device 18 corresponding to a horizontal plane 38 with respect to the support roller 2 to be replaced, however, does not guarantee on its own that the support roller 2 actually does not tilt during the removal. For it is possible that the carrying roller 2, although not inclined but obliquely inserted in the roller hearth furnace 1 or that the roller transfer device 18 is not positioned exactly in line with the support roller 2 to be removed. Therefore, in the support roller changing device 18 according to the invention, the support frame 24 movably supports the housing 16 so that the housing 16 is pivotally supported relative to the support frame 24. So that the housing 16 can also be pivoted relative to the carrier frame 24, plain bearing elements 40 are provided, which are attached both to the frame frame 25 of the carrier frame 24 and to the underside of the housing 16, as shown, for example, in FIG. The sliding bearing elements 40 are thus arranged between the housing 16 and the support frame 24, so that the housing 16 does not rest directly on the support frame 24. The sliding bearing members 40 are made of a material having a copper-based alloy. In the embodiment, the Gleit¬ bearing elements 40 made of gunmetal, of course, alternative materials or alternative possibilities for a pivotal support of the housing 16 on the support frame 24 are conceivable. It would also be conceivable to pivot without sliding bearing elements 40, but the sliding bearing elements 40 ensure a smooth alignment of the housing 16. The plate-shaped sliding bearing elements 40 are mounted in the illustrated embodiment on the Untersei¬te of the housing 16 in its corners and on the central support of the support frame 24.

However, the support of the housing 16 via the sliding bearing elements 40 does not provide for dierelative pivoting of the housing 16 to the support frame 24, but supports and facilitates only this movement. The movement is effected by a pivot drive 41 which is fixedly mounted on the support frame 24 and drives a push rod 42 which is attached to the back 30 of the housing 16 (see for example Figures 4 and 8). With the aid of this pivoting drive 41, the housing 16 is displaceable on its rear side 30 in the transverse direction 43 (see arrow in FIG. 8). In order to align the housing 16 together with the support roller handling device 15 on the support roller 2 to be removed, the housing 16 can be pivoted relative to the support frame 24 from the basic position shown in FIG. 10, for which purpose the housing 16 has a pivot point 44 at its front side 22 the housing 16 pivots when the pivot drive 41 deflects the back 30 of the housing 16, as shown by way of example in FIG. 11 and indicated by the arrow 45. The pivot point 44 is defined by a kingpin 46 on the side of the support frame 24 and a kingpin receiver 47 on the side of the housing 16 (see, for example, Figure 9).

The pivot point 44 is arranged vertically offset from the lock 17 of the housing 16, however, the pivot point 44 and the lock 17 are arranged stationary relative to each other. As a result, the rear side 30 of the housing 16 is pivotally connected to the support frame 24 via the pivot drive 41 so that the housing 16 is pivotable about the pivot point 44 located at the front 22 of the housing 16 by means of the pivot drive 41. The king bolt 46 is disposed on a carriage which is laterally movable on the front side of the support frame 24 by means of the displacement drive 48.
