Fig. 1 zeigt die Vorrichtung in Vorderansicht (Scheiben.

Device for making cigarettes with a tobacco leaf.
In order to avoid the paper sleeves which are harmful to health when smoking, attempts have often been made to make cigarettes with a tobacco binder. Such a production on a larger scale has not been possible up to now, since the devices suitable for this purpose were lacking, and the purpose of the invention is to create a device which enables the production of such cigarettes in a manufacturing manner. Since the tobacco leaves to be used for wrapping are known to be very sensitive, the invention is based on the idea of completely completing the roll to be wrapped before wrapping so that any further processing, in particular cutting off the ends, is avoided.
For this reason, according to the invention, the tobacco rod, which is gradually advanced by a rod-forming device, is pushed into tubes, which are mounted on an endless conveyor means, and in these tubes is compressed to the required length by the entry of tappets of a known type to provide hollowed-out end faces so that the prepared winding has a slightly convex appearance at the ends. A second, likewise endless, conveying means that cooperates with said conveying means is provided with winding nests for wrapping the roll finished in the tubes of the first conveying device with a tobacco leaf.
The device works step by step, so that one of the named tubes with one of the winding devices comes into play.
In the drawing, a schematic representation of the device is shown by an exemplary embodiment in FIGS. 1 and 2. Fig. 1 shows the device in front view (discs. 35 are omitted from position CLOSED to V), Fig. 2 in side view, Figs. 3--8 are special representations, Fig. 3 shows partly schematically the means for compressing the coils , Fig. 4 shows a top view of a sleeve, Fig. 5 is a side view of Fig. 4, Fig. 6 shows the opened sleeve in side view, Fig. 7 is a top view of the channel 6 with the sleeve 3 lying in it, Fig.

EMI1.1
The strand of cigarette tobacco intermittently exiting from the mouthpiece 1 of a known strand-forming device is cut off from the latter by a knife 2 after it has been pushed into a sleeve 3 by the advance of the strand-forming device. On a disk 4, which is rotatably mounted in a stationary frame 5, eight guide channels 6 are attached at equal distances from one another in the exemplary embodiment. In the guide channels 6 store the two-part sleeves 3, u. so that they are carried along when the disk 4 rotates, but can be lifted out of their mounting in the disk 4 by means of the tabs 7 for actuation.
The channels 6 are widened at their free ends (FIG. 7) and thereby enable a spring 8 attached to both sleeve halves 3a and 3b to cause the sleeves 3 to open when the sleeves 3 are pushed away from the disk 4. Instead of the foldable sleeve 3, which is displaced in the conically widened channel 6, a sleeve can also be used, the interior of which is conical, which makes it easier to push out the roll. An arm 9 rigidly connected to the frame 5 (FIG. 3) carries oppositely acting, longitudinally displaceable plungers 10a and 10b,

moved by a rotating cam disk 15. The pin 16 is used for the lever 14 and the pin 1'1 is used for the lever 13 attached to the lever 14 (FIG. 3).
Moving the sleeve. 3 in the guide 6 is through a slide. M (Fig. L) causes which is moved in the direction of the sleeve neck. One end of the slide 18 lies between the tabs 7, the other end receives the reciprocating movement by a lever 19 actuated by a curve plate.
On a second disc 20 (FIG. 1) known winding nests 21 are attached at equal distances from one another. In the exemplary embodiment, twelve such nests are provided. In the part of the winding nest fastened on the disk 20 and in its cover 22, several grooved rollers 23 (Fig. 8,9) are attached which are arranged around the winding W and receive their drive via a gear train 24 through a disk 25, which rolls on a rail 26 (Fig. 1, 2) connected to the fixed part of the device. In the lower part of the rocking nest: 21 there is also a

The device works as follows:
The tobacco rod emerges from the mouthpiece 1 at periodic intervals, slides into the sleeve 3 (see position I, FIG. 1) and is cut off by a knife 2. The disk 4 now rotates in the direction of the arrow, FIG. 1, until the roll W located in the sleeve 3 has reached position II. In this position, the compression of the cradle W takes place by the plunger 10 (FIG. 3). The disk 4 then continues to rotate in a clockwise direction until position III is reached.
In this position is by the slide 18, which is caused by the rotation of the disc 4 between the tabs 7 of the sleeve. 3 has pushed the sleeve 3 with the winding W over the winding nest 21 (position IV). A fixed stop (not shown) is located behind the last cut end of the winding, the

held winding W can fall into the winding nest 21 (position IV). In position V, the cut tobacco leaf, whose edge protruding beyond the feed table 27 is coated with adhesive, is placed on the roller 28 attached to the feed table 27 so that its long side touches the tobacco like, angle W (FIG. 8).
The lid 22 is now closed, e.g. B. by a fixed curve 40. From position VI to VIII, the tobacco leaf is wrapped around the roll W by the disc 25 running on the rail 26. The end disks 29 and 30 limit the length of the roll and rotate with it. During positions IX to XI, the roll stands still in the winding nest and moves with it on the disc 20. In position XII, the tension spring 35 attached to the lower part and cover 22 of the winding nest 21 can act freely, whereby the cover 22 is opened.
In this position of the winding nest, the roll provided with the tobacco leaf falls into the lower part 36 of the Flaehdrüekvorriehtung, several of which are attached at equal distances from one another on an endless belt 37 (FIG. 1). The belt 37 moves in the direction of the arrow and in position XIII the upper part 38 of the flat pressing device lies down. Several of which are also attached at equal distances from one another on a belt 39, on the lower part 36. In position XIV, the flattening device comes between resilient pressure rails 41 and 42.
In a manner analogous to assembling the Flaehdrilekvorriehtung, the separation of the upper part 38 and the lower part 36 takes place so that the flattened cigarette can fall onto a conveyor belt (not shown). From position XV-XVII the changing nest is empty and its cover 22 is opened. The winding nest then moves back into position IV, in which it receives a new winding W from the sleeve 3, and the process described begins anew.
