Swiveling drive axle, especially for motor vehicles.

The invention relates to an oscillating drive axle, in particular for motor vehicles.

The aim of the invention is to combine the swingable axle bearing directly and in compact form with the differential gear. The essence of the invention is that in the case of a swingable drive axle, in which the ball pins connected to the axle halves are mounted in hubs of the central gears that are configured in the shape of a spherical shell, the disk carrying the planetary gears is also formed on both sides into spherical shell-shaped bearing surfaces for the ball pins.

The further embodiment of the invention consists in that the swingable axle halves are carried along by pivot pins engaging in meridional grooves of their spherical ends.

An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in section in the drawing.

The design is essentially the same as that of the known differential gear.

The pinion 1 sitting on the cardan shaft drives the bevel gear 2, which is firmly seated on the housing 3 and takes it along. In the plane of symmetry of the housing there is a disk-shaped body 4 which engages with radial journals 4 ', 4 "in bores of the housing 3 so that it participates in the rotation of the same. The planetary bevel gears 5', 4" sit on the journals 4 ', 4 ". 5 ", which in a known manner engage in the bevel gears 6 ', 61 /, which are freely rotatably mounted in the housing 3.

According to the invention, both the disk body 4 and the bodies of the bevel gears 6 ', 6 "are hollowed out in the shape of a spherical shell that together they form a hollow spherical bearing for the spherically formed ends 8', 8" of the oscillating semi-axis on which the drive wheels sit. The ball ends have meridional grooves 9 ', 9 "into which pins 7', 7" engage, which are rotatably mounted radially in the bodies of the bevel gears 6 ', 6 "and which transmit the rotation to the axle halves.

In a modification of this design, the ends of the axle halves can also be designed as spherical shells hollowed out in a hemispherical shape on the inside, which encompass the hemispherical extensions of the body 4.

     PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Swiveling drive axle, in particular for motor vehicles, in which the ball pins connected to the axle halves are mounted in hubs of the central gears designed in the shape of a spherical shell, characterized in that the disk (4) carrying the planetary gears (5 ', J ") on both sides becomes spherical shell-shaped bearing surfaces for the ball stud (8 ', 8 ") is formed.
