Abstract
Una composicion de fosfato de aluminio comprendiendo fosfato de aluminio, polifosfato de aluminio, metafosfato de aluminio o una mezcla de los mismos. La composicion puede estar caracterizada porque, cuando se encuentra en forma de polvo, presenta partículas en donde algunas de esas partículas tienen al menos uno o más huecos por partículas. Adicionalmente, la composicion está caracterizada porque exhibe dos picos endotérmicos en calorimetría de exploracion diferencial entre cerca de 90°C y cerca de 250°C. La composicion también se caracteriza porque, cuando se encuentra en forma de polvo, presenta una dispersabilidad de al menos 0,025 gramos por cada 1,0 gramo de agua, La composicion es producida mediante un proceso que comprende hacer entrar en contacto ácido fosforico con sulfato de aluminio y una solucion alcalina para producir un producto basado en fosfato de aluminio; y opcionalmente calcinar el producto basado en fosfato, polifosfato o metafosfato de aluminio a una temperatura elevada. La composicion resulta util en pinturas y como sustituto del dioxido de titanio.
