Abstract

Una embarcación marina de alta velocidad, el peso de la cual está soportado por combinaciones específicas de elementos de casco, esto es, superficies de planeo, volúmenes de desplazamiento, cojines de aire y, a alta velocidad, también superficies que son afectadas por presión aerostática y aerodinámica. El tamano y arreglo de los elementos de casco son disenados para lograr un efecto lo más grande posible para sus respectivas propiedades de sustentación y amortiguación de movimiento, para dar a la embarcación las ventajosas características pretendidas en términos de velocidad, resistencia y comportamiento en olas. Teniendo un grado de libertad para posicionar el centro de las fuerzas ascendentes en relación al centro de gravedad, se puede incluir en la frecuencia natural de la embarcación cuando se mueve en un plano vertical. Todos los arreglos de casco están destinados a usar propulsión de chorro de agua, lo que de ninguna manera impide la elección de otras disposiciones de propulsión. Se pueden adaptar todas las disposiciones conocidas para control de movimiento activo. Todos los disenos de casco pueden ser acomodados tal que la sustentación aerodinámica sobre la superestructura de la embarcación y - en aplicaciones multi-casco - la sustentación aerostática en el túnel (túneles) de casco, se puede usar para reducir la resistencia total de la embarcación, aumentando el efecto conforme aumenta la velocidad. El hecho de que el diseno tiene túneles de casco, y por ende utiliza sustentación aerostática, distingue la presente favorablemente de otros tipos de embarcaciones de colchón de aire. En su diseno original, la embarcación propuesta provee una construcción única, libertad en la elección de dispositivo de propulsión, único control de movimiento en olas y baja resistencia de ''cresta'' comparado con otras embarcaciones de colchón de aire similares.
