Abstract

Se describe un método y aparato para proporcionar verificacion contínua de una estacion movil a los efectos de las operaciones de traspaso del servicio enun sistema de telecomunicaciones celulares. En una realizacion de la presente invencion una estacion movil (MS) tiene una conexion inalámbrica establecidacon una primera estacion de base (BS1). Una segunda estacion de base (BS2), recibe las transmisiones de enlace ascendente enviadas a la BS1 desde la MS tanpronto como entra en el rangode recepcion. La BS2 inicia de inmediato un procedimiento de verificacion en la MS para determinar si se puede efectuar unaconexion satisfactoria. El paso de verificacion es iniciado por la segunda estacion de base antes de iniciarse un procedimiento de traspaso del servicio,reduciendo así la cantidad de senalizacion entre MSC y las estaciones de base relacionadas. Como la verificacion se inicia más temprano, se produce a lolargo de un período de tiempo relativamente más prolongadolo cual da como resultado mejorada confiabilidad en cuanto al traspaso del servicio.A method and apparatus for providing continuous verification of a mobile station for the purposes of service transfer operations in a cellular telecommunications system is described. In one embodiment of the present invention a mobile station (MS) has a wireless connection established with a first base station (BS1). A second base station (BS2) receives the uplink transmissions sent to the BS1 from the MS as soon as it enters the receiving range. The BS2 immediately initiates a verification procedure in the MS to determine if a satisfactory connection can be made. The verification step is initiated by the second base station before a service handover procedure is initiated, thus reducing the amount of signaling between MSC and the related base stations. As verification begins earlier, it takes place over a relatively longer period of time which results in improved reliability in terms of service transfer.
