Abstract

La invención se refiere a un método para la producción contínua de un electrodo de carbono de autococción en conexión directa con un horno defundición donde el electrodo se consume. Los bloques de una primera pasta de electrodo carbonosa sinhornear se alimentan a la cámara de curado dispuesta enel extremo superior del electrodo; dicha cámara de curado está abierta en su parte superior y también en su parte inferior y tiene una sección interna quecorresponde a la sección del electrodo a ser producido; dichos bloques de la primera pasta carbonácea sin hornear tienen un diámetro menor que el diámetrointerno de la cámara de curado sin hornear, alimentando una segunda pasta carbonácea de electrodo sin hornear particulada alanillo que existe entre lacámara de curado y los bloques de la primera pasta de electrodo carbonácea sin hornear; dicha segunda pasta de electrodo comprende un aglomerante que cura auna temperatura inferior que la primera pasta carbonácea de electrodo, calentando y curando la segunda pasta carbonosa de electrodo a través delmedio de calefacción dispuesto en la cámara de curado. La segunda pasta carbonosa de electrodo forma, por ende, una costra curada alrededor de losbloques centrales de la primera pasta carbonosa de electrodo. Los bloques centrales no horneados de la primera pasta carbonosa de electrodo son luegohorneados hasta adoptar la forma de un electrodo de carbono sólido junto con la costra curada por mediodel calor generado en el área del suministro de lacorriente eléctrica al electrodo y el aparato que opera con dicho método.
