COMBINATION STAND, CARRIAGE, AND STOOL.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 759,289, dated May 10, 1904.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JEFFERSON D. LELAND, a citizen of the United States, residing at Durand, county of Shiawassee, State of Michigan, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in a Combination Stand, Oarriage, and Stool, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.

My invention has for its object a combination stand, carriage, and stool for adding-machines, type-writers, and other analogous uses; and it consists of the construction, combina- I 5 tion, and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed, and illustrated. in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a view in perspective, illustrating my invention. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same, one of the leaves being removed. Fig. 3 is a view in perspective, illustrating a modification of my invention. Fig. 4. is a rear elevation. Fig. 5 is a detail view, partly in section and partly in side elevation. Fig. 6

The purpose of my invention is to provide a combination stand, carriage, and stool for the purposes described above of simple and economical construction and of superior con- 3 venience and utility and whereby the stand and stool may readily be moved about in various locations, as may be desired.

I carry out my invention as follows:

In the drawings, (0 represents a stand to support an adding-machine, type-writer, or

other analogous article, (indicated in the outline b.) This stand is supported upon brackets, said brackets carrying at their lower extremities an axle, upon which are mounted 4 wheels for the ready transportation of thedevices. In Figs. 1 and 2 the brackets are indicated at c, said brackets being two in num her at each side of the stand and connected with the stand at their upper ends toward the front and rear edges of the stand, the brackets converging at their lower extremities to carry the axle (Z, upon which are mounted the wheels In Fig. 3 I have shown a single bracket on each side of the stand, the brackets f being engaged at their upper ends to the sides of the stand, preferably a little to the rear of the middle of the stand, the brackets fsupporting the axle (Z, upon which are mount ed the wheels 0.

My invention contemplates also attaching a stool g to the stand or carriage, so that the stool will be moved simultaneously with the movement of the carriage and stand. To this end the stool is supported upon arms [0, said arms being constructed with horizontal por- 6 tions at their lower ends, the opposite ends of the arms being turned upward. In Figs. 1 and 2 the upwardly-extended portions of the arms are shown attached to the brackets c, as indicated at '21. In Fig. 3 the upwardly-ex- 5 tended portions of the said arms are shown connected with the forward portion of the stand a. I do not limit myself to either form of connecting the arms with the carriage or the stand. As indicated, the arms are in- 7 tended to aid in supporting the stand in horizontal position, and this result is accomplished whether the arms are connected. with the bracket 0 or with the forward edge of the stand. Said arms at the same time support the stool g.

It will readily be seen that by mounting the stand upon the carriage and attaching the stool-supporting arms directly to the stand or indirectly thereto through the medium of 0 the upwardly-extended brackets of the carriagc the stand may readily be transported, the stool being transported therewith at the same time, so that the one is never displaced from the other, but are always connected 5 ready for use. Obviously the arrangement is oneof great convenience and utility.

My invention also contemplates providing the stand a with drop-leaves Z, hinged to the stand, as at Z. The leaves when down will 9 partially cover the wheels.

My invention also contemplates making the stool or seat 0 adjustable upon the arms it. This may be done in any suitable manner, as

by constructing said arms with elongated openings 12?, through which brackets '11, engaged with the seat, may be bolted, as indi cated at 2). By this means the seat is made movable, so as to be adjusted toward or from the stand.

hat I claim as my invention is- 1. In combination a stand, a carriage upon which said stand is mounted having downwardly-extended and horizontally-extended portions to aid in supporting said stand, and a seat spaced from the stand supported upon the horizontal portions of said arms.
