To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that we, DANIEL OHARA, DAN- IEL W. ELDREDGE, and JOHN LOGAN,Of Walthem, in the county of Middlesex and State of 5 Massachusetts, have'invented certain new and useful Improvements in Alloys, of which the following is a specification. l Our invention has for its object to provide an alloy or compound metal which shall be practilo cally non-magnetic, inoxidizable, and will have asuitnble eoefiicient of expansion to adapt it for I use as the material for one of the parts of the rim of n compensation-balance for wzit-ches or chronometers.
15 Our improved alloy consists of a compound of platinum,copper, nick-cl, and gold in about the following proportions: platinum, from seventy five (75) to ninety (90) parts; copper, twenty-four (24) parts; nickel,eight (8) parts;
20 gold, six (6) parts. I
We do not limit ourselves to the exact pro portions of copper, niekel,and gold above specified, butmay-vary the same within reasonable limits withoutdeparting from the spirit of our invention. 1
Ve claim- An alloy or compound metal. composed of platinum, copper, nickel, and gold, in substantially the following parts, viz: from seventyfive to ninety parts of platinum, twenty-four 30 parts of copper, eight parts of nickel, and six parts of gold, as set forth.
In testimony whereof we have signed our names to this specification, in thepresence of two subscribing witnesses,this 28th day of Feb- 3 5 ruary, A. D. 1888.
